Enterprise: Bypass Allows Resumption of Some HIOS Service

Enterprise Product Partners LP’s High Island Offshore System LLC (HIOS) is continuing a force majeure at its HIA-264 compressor complex in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) but said that effective for gas day Thursday it is able to accept nominations and resume some level of service from all receipt locations to all delivery points by bypassing the damaged compressor station.

Enterprise HIOS Compression Shut-In Continues

Enterprise Product Partners LP’s High Island Offshore System LLC (HIOS) has continued a force majeure at its HIA-264 compressor complex in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) where an equipment fire last week (see Daily GPI, Aug. 6) caused “significant damage to compression, power generation, communications and other facilities,” the company said. The HIOS compression facilities will be unavailable for service for an indefinite period.

Transportation Notes

Sea Robin Pipeline said Wednesday it had completed unscheduled maintenance and repairs that had begun at the end of March between South Marsh Island 33 and Vermilion 149. Nominations were allowed to resume at three meters required to shut in by the work.

Industry Brief

Due to scheduled maintenance and work associated with the Elba III Expansion project, Southern LNG said its Elba Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal will be unable to accept ship cargoes for unloading through Nov. 23. Additionally, there will be no natural gas send-out Thursday (Nov. 13) through Monday (Nov. 17). From Tuesday (Nov. 18) through Sunday (Nov. 23) send-out will be limited to 675 MMcf/d due to project tie-ins for the Elba III Expansion. Following completion of the work, the North Dock will remain out of service until February.

Freeport LNG Gets FERC Go-Ahead to Begin Operations

FERC last Tuesday gave Freeport LNG Development LP the green light to begin service at its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on Quintana Island, about 70 miles south of Houston. The terminal comes on-line about four years to the date from when the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved the project (see NGI, June 28, 2004).
