Return of Frigid Weather Boosts Most Points

It was not surprising when prices resumed climbing at nearly all points Friday following a partial interruption Thursday of last week’s overall cash market strength (see Daily GPI, Jan. 11). After all, cold fronts were moving into the South and Northeast Friday, and a new siege of frigid weather close to rivaling the one following New Year’s Day would be under way in most of the U.S. and Canada by the end of the weekend.

Citing the continuing interruption of Gulf of Mexico supplies caused by Hurricane Katrina and warm weather in Florida, Gulfstream said Thursday an OFO that it had initiated Tuesday will remain in effect until further notice. See the bulletin board for the OFO’s conditions.

Sonat reported Wednesday experiencing an unscheduled outage of the Tarrant Compressor Station in Birmingham, AL, due to flooding. No interruption to firm service was expected, but Sonat said it might not be able to accept all nominations for interruptible service (B-1 and IT) on the North System in Zones 2 and 3 until further notice.
