Sierra Pacific Power Asks for 10% Gas Rate Increase Dec. 1
Reflecting higher wholesale costs for fuel over the past 12 months and estimates of what the future holds, Sierra Pacific Power Co. Monday made its annual mandatory natural gas deferred-energy filing with the Nevada Public Utilities Commission, seeking a 10% boost in retail gas rates, effective Dec. 1. The Sierra Pacific Resources’ Reno-based utility said the filing reflects the “continuing high energy costs around the country.”
Shell Delays Mars, Auger Platform Repairs Due to ‘Loop Currents’ in the Gulf
Shell Exploration & Production Co. said Wednesday that due to ongoing loop currents in the area, it has postponed flexjoint replacements on both its oil and natural gas export lines at Mars tension leg platform (TLP) located in the Gulf of Mexico. As a result, the company will also postpone shutting down the platform.

Proposed South Texas Pipe Holds Open Season for Planned LNG Facility
The newly formed San Patricio Pipeline LLC will hold an open season through Oct. 15 for long-term transportation service on its proposed pipeline in San Patricio County in South Texas. The pipeline will have a throughput capacity of 1 Bcf/d and will extend from the proposed Ingleside Energy Center LLC along the Texas coast to interconnections with nine existing interstate and intrastate pipelines throughout the county.
