TXU Energy Services has won a five-year $500 million deal toprovide energy services to 85 of Crescent Real Estate commercialoffices nationwide. Cresent is one of the country’s largest realestate investment trusts.

The California Independent System Operator (California ISO)ordered Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to initiate itslocalized non-firm interruptible program 12- 6 p.m. yesterdaybecause of continued heat Northern California, particularly in theinland areas. In addition, the amount of generation unavailable inthe Bay Area due to repairs increased from 488 MW Wednesday to 800MW Thursday. PG&E said it curtailed 300 MW of interruptiblecustomers beginning at 12:15 p.m. during localized load shedding tohelp stabilize the flow of power on the ISO-controlled transmissionsystems. The California ISO was not under a Stage One Emergencyyesterday, however it issued a Power Watch, urging customersthroughout the state to conserve electricity whenever possible.

Columbia Energy Group’s subsidiary Cove Point LNG Ltd.partnership said Friday it had completed its open season for firmLNG tanker discharging service at its terminal on the Marylandcoast.

Kern River is accepting bids through this afternoon in an openseason for summer firm capacity from May 1 through Nov. 30. Thursday marked the first time bears took firm control of themarket all week, as most price points fell between a nickel and 10cents. A large majority of the deals were made through the weekend,as many trading offices were expected to be sparsely populated onGood Friday.

Dominion Transmission (formerly CNG) is conducting an openseason to solicit interest in high-deliverability, firm,market-area storage to be available in 2003. The highdeliverability storage (HDS) project “includes up to 12 turns peryear, 10-day withdrawal and is competitively priced,” Dominionsaid. “We developed HDS to meet the needs of the evolving,fast-growing, peaking market,” said Paul Koonce, senior vicepresident for Dominion Generation. The open season runs from April3 to May 31, 2000. Dominion’s system offers key delivery pointssuch as its North and South points; numerous LDC citygates; andother pipelines, including Texas Eastern at Leidy and Oakford;Tennessee at Cornwell, Petersburg, Gilmore, Harrison, Ellisburg andBrookview; and Transco at Leidy and Nokesville.

Effective today, Kern River will lift all restrictions on firmservice that had resulted from this week’s Muddy Creek maintenance.IT service will resume as scheduled Saturday.
