Dynegy Fails to Assure S&P; Credit Watch Remains in Effect

The credit rating service Standard & Poor’s said Thursday that its ratings for Dynegy Inc., which stand at BBB+/A2, and its subsidiaries will remain on Credit Watch with negative implications, reflecting what it called “several obstacles” facing the Houston-based energy trader. “Foremost is the uncertainty surrounding the pending lawsuit filed by Enron Corp. that alleges that Dynegy falsely executed its right to terminate the merger. Standard & Poor’s cannot at this time determine the outcome of such litigation.”

ONEOK Cuts 2001 Earnings Guidance on Low Prices, Warm Weather

ONEOK revised downward its earnings guidance for 2001. It said net income excluding the effect of an Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) charge is estimated to be about $1.20 per diluted share of common stock, which compares to Wall Street estimates between $1.35 and $1.50. Net income is estimated to be only $1.02 per diluted share of common stock including the impact of the OCC charge. The company earned $1.10 per diluted share in 2000 excluding the sale of a processing plant.

FERC Issues NOPR on Intra-day Recalls of Released Capacity

Given the inability of the natural gas standards-setting organization to resolve the issue of intra-day recalls of released transportation capacity, FERC has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) that would give releasing shippers the flexibility to re-nominate their recalled capacity at the next scheduling opportunity provided by an interstate pipeline.

The moderately softening status quo remained in effect for the cash market Thursday. Declines of about a dime or less prevailed at most points, although double-digit moves were reported for the Rockies/Pacific Northwest region. The smallest drops of less than a nickel were concentrated at cool Northeast citygates.
