Northwest saidit was taking the action to insure operational integrity “giventhat the system has been drafted for the last two days andextremely cold weather is predicted for most of Northwest’smarkets.”

CIG’s Picketwire Lateral Adds 33 MDth/d

Colorado Interstate Gas Co. has begun transporting an additional33 Mdth/d of natural gas from the Raton Basin to delivery points onits system following completion of its Picketwire Lateral Loop insouthern Colorado. The Coastal Corp.’s Rocky Mountain pipelinesubsidiary placed the line in service Oct. 24.

Calpine to Acquire 21 GE Turbines

Calpine announced that it will purchase 21 model 7FB turbinesfrom GE Power Systems and take delivery over the next three years.Calpine hopes that the acquisition will help it reach its five-yearstrategic plan of 40,000 MW of power generation by the end of 2004.GE will deliver the first 12 turbines in 2003, with the other ninefollowing sometime in 2004. The 21 turbines when operated incombined cycle have a total generating capacity of 5,600 MW.

Transwestern began allocating Tuesday at its SoCal Needlesdelivery point into California due to nominations exceedingcapacity. About 103,000 MMBtu/d of West of Thoreau capacity wasaffected, the pipeline said.
