Seneca Lake Seeks More Time to Explore ‘Market Opportunities’ for NY Storage Project

Seneca Lake Storage Inc. on Monday asked FERC for a two-year extension of the deadline to place in operation proposed high-deliverability storage facilities in western New York, citing as its reason the inability of potential customers to acquire transportation services on connecting pipelines.

Transportation Notes

Questar has started inventory and deliverability testing at its Clay Basin Storage facility. From April 1 through April 5 the work restricted customers to withdrawals only. A withdrawal test of up to 370,000 dekatherms was set for Tuesday. From Wednesday until April 22, the facility will be shut in for inventory verification, preventing Questar from using Clay Basin to balance receipt and delivery imbalances. Thus it stressed to customers the importance of preventing physical imbalances during that period.

Falcon Plans Storage Hub for Florida, Southeast; Open Season Set

Falcon Gas Storage Co. Inc. will hold an open season in April for a new high-deliverability, multi-cycle (HDMC) natural gas storage hub to be located in the southeastern United States. The MoBay Storage Hub in Mobile County, AL, scheduled to be in service by the fourth quarter of 2004, would offer 20 Bcf of working gas capacity along with 450 MMcf/d of injection and withdrawal capability.

Questar On Target to Increase Gas Production by 12% for 2002

Questar Corp. said Wednesday that its low-risk development gas drilling programs have deliverability by 40% this year at its core Rocky Mountain plays in western Wyoming and eastern Utah. Despite intentionally curtailing Rockies production because of low prices and unprecedented basis differentials, the company is on track to grow production by 12% this year, said Chuck Stanley, executive vice president of Questar’s Market Resources (QMR) subsidiary.
