Dynegy Sells Indian Basin Gas Plant Interest for $48M

Dynegy Inc. has sold its 16% interest in the Indian Basin Gas Processing Plant, located in Eddy County, NM, to a private investor for $48 million. The company’s pre-tax gain will be $36 million.

Transportation Notes

The third-party maintenance work scheduled for April 14-16 at the Gulfterra-Thompsonville receipt point in Jim Hogg County, TX (see Daily GPI, April 13) was postponed until further notice, NGPL said. Therefore, it was accepting intraday nominations at the point Wednesday.

Transportation Notes

NGPL said a line failure occurred Saturday on one of its three mainlines in Washington County, KS, between Compressor Stations 195 and 106 on the Amarillo System. Repairs are under way. There was no impact to shippers due to the pipeline’s operational flexibility in the area, NGPL said.

Range Adds 80 Bcf of West Texas Reserves

Range Resources said it has added about 80 Bcfe of West Texas gas (88%) and oil reserves near its Conger Field in Sterling County for $85 million. About 14 MMcf/d of gas currently is being produced and Range said it expects a shallow production decline and long life with a reserve-to-production ratio of more than 15 years.

The two units at Trailblazer’s Compressor Station 602 in Lincoln County, CO remained out of service Thursday until further notice due to “a sudden mechanical/electrical failure.” Trailblazer has declared force majeure and said the completion date of repairs remains unknown. ITS/AOR and Secondary out-of-path transportation through the station are not available for scheduling. Primary and Secondary in-the-path firm nominated volumes will be prorated based on the shipper’s contract MDQ (Maximum Daily Quantity), the pipeline said.

NGPL shut in two receipt points in the immediate area shortly after identifying a mainline failure in Caddo County, OK shortly before 1 p.m. CDT Friday. No injuries or significant physical damage to the surrounding area have been reported, according to the pipeline. It said it would use its “operational flexibility to minimize the impact to shippers for today’s [Friday] gas day and most likely for future days.” The incident resulted in a few transportation constraints; see the bulletin board for details. No delivery points were being impacted Friday, the pipeline said, but delivery points along the A/G Line (Segments 15 and 17) “are at a slight risk of being impacted.”

Kinder Morgan Proposes Expanded Capacity at Oil Springs Facility

Kinder Morgan Inc. (KMI) is proposing to expand the capacity of its Oil Springs natural gas storage facility in eastern Carbon County, WY to 10 Bcf/year, which would allow cycling capability to third-party shippers, the company said Friday.

Kinder Morgan Interstate reported completion of repairs to a leak on its Pony Line in Yuma County, CO, downstream of Sterling Compressor Station. The associated force majeure, declared late Tuesday, was lifted for Wednesday’s gas day. Minor service curtailments were made Tuesday.

Summer Peaks, Gas Prices Worry CA Economic Forecaster

Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. (LAEDC), a nonprofit economic development group, indicated in its latest weekly economic outlook for the region and state that energy this summer could be a worrisome component of the state’s sagging economy. It particularly targeted the potential ill-effects of high natural gas prices, which could be felt more severely in the East than the West, the forecast noted.
