A subsidiary of Coastal Field Services has purchased the GilmoreNo. 3 gas processing plant, near Edina, TX, in Hidalgo County fromPG&E Gas Transmission-Texas (PG&E-GTT). The plant wasconstructed in 1997 and has a capacity to extract 6,000 b/d of gasliquids from inlet volumes of up to 125 MMcf/d of gas. Theagreement, signed Nov. 1, also provides for Coastal to controlcapacity both upstream of the plant and exiting the plant.PG&E-GTT will continue to own and operate the Gilmore No. 1 andNo. 2 plants, which have capacity to extract 6,800 barrels per dayof gas liquids from combined inlet volumes of up to 140 MMcf/d.PG&E-GTT also will continue as operator for the Gilmore No. 3plant. “This acquisition reflects Coastal’s strategy of integratingnatural gas infrastructure in areas where Coastal has significantexploration and production interests,” said Coastal CEO David A.Arledge. “Due to ongoing drilling successes and recentacquisitions, South Texas is one of Coastal’s fastest-growingnatural gas production areas.”

Monterrey Pipeline Now in Open Season
KN Energy began an open season for its a 108-mile, 24-inchMonterrey Pipeline that would connect its MidCon Texas intrastatepipeline in Starr County, TX, to Monterrey, Mexico. The open seasonbegan yesterday and runs through 5 p.m. CDT July 30.

A direct lightning strike occurred Monday at Transwestern’sBisti Compressor Station (San Juan County, NM), prompting thepipeline to declare a force majeure. Transwestern expected thestation to be down about three days, saying San Juan Lateralcapacity would be reduced to 700,000 MMbtu/d through Thursday.
SDG&E Sells Encina Plant to Dynegy, NRG
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has completed the saleof its 951 MW Encina Power Plant in Carlsbad, CA, and 253 MW ofcombustion turbine facilities in San Diego County to Dynegy Inc.and NRG Energy Inc.

There will be zero flow through Finney County (KS) Station April21-22 during maintenance on the station’s Unit #4, Northern NaturalGas said. It estimated 13,000 MMbtu/d will be affected. About150,000 MMbtu/d will be affected at Spraberry Compressor Station inWest Texas during a one-day emergency shutdown test and changeoutof valves May 3.
Dynegy NC Power Plant on Track for 2000
Dynegy is moving forward with final permitting and constructionof its 800 MW generating facility in Rockingham County, NC.Construction will begin upon receipt of final environmental permitsand the plant will be in service in June of 2000.
ERCOT to Get 750 MW of Gas-Fired Generation
Texas-based Panda Energy International plans to construct a $100million, 750 MW gas-fired merchant power plant in Guadalupe Countynear Marion, TX. The maximum amount of gas the plant could use is126,000 MMBtu/d.
Payments to MarketSpan Execs Targeted by Class Action
A class action complaint was filed in the Supreme Court of NewYork in Nassau County against MarketSpan Corp. and former seniorofficers/directors of Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO). Theclass action was filed on behalf of current shareholders ofMarketSpan who were stockholders of LILCO and/or The Brooklyn UnionGas Co. (BU) or its successor, KeySpan Energy Corp. at the time ofthe merger of LILCO and BU.
