Amoco Expands Trinidad Deliveries

Amoco Energy Co. of Trinidad and Tobago completed an 18-monthproject to increase its gas capacity by 40% to support growingdomestic industrial demand at Point Lisas and Point Fortin. Amocoincreased its ability to provide gas locally to about 700 MMcf/d,primarily due to two successful new wells at the company’s existingFlamboyant structure off the southeast coast of Trinidad.

Calpine, Bechtel to Build 2,000 MW of Gas-Fired Power

Expanding on its plan to add additional gas-fired powergeneration capacity near the Dow Chemical power plant and pipelinefacilities in Pittsburg, CA, that it purchased earlier this month,Calpine Corp. announced a partnership yesterday with BechtelEnterprises to build 2,000 MW of gas-fired power generation inNorthern California, primarily near San Francisco.

TVA Buys Chunk of Capacity on Columbia

A transportation agreement signed by Columbia Gulf and theTennessee Valley Authority (TVA) may mark the beginning of alasting relationship. The agreement covers firm transportation onColumbia for 240,000 MMBtu/d of gas that will fuel 1,500 MW ofpower generation at TVA’s Gallatin Power Plant in Sumner County,TN. But the plant represents a small piece of a larger conversionprocess which will turn another 20 generation units to gas usageover the next year.
