Dynegy Inc. has closed the sale of its U.S. communications business, including a high-capacity broadband network spanning more than 16,000 miles with access points in 44 U.S. cities, to an affiliate of 360networks Corp. Financial terms of the deal, first announced in late March, were not disclosed. CEO Bruce A. Williamson said the sale finalizes Dynegy’s exit from communications. “The Dynegy you see now — and into the future — is one built around its core energy businesses, which include power generation, natural gas liquids and regulated energy delivery.”

Transportation Notes

Noting forecasts of continued warm weather in Florida and that its capacity is being heavily utilized, Florida Gas Transmission issued an Overage Alert Day notice Tuesday for its market area. The tolerance for negative daily imbalances was 10%.

Tennessee Gas Pipeline said Friday that effective for the Feb. 15 gas day and due to nominations in excess of available capacity, it continued its restriction of 15% of secondary receipt nominations at meters located on the Central Texas Gathering System, including the Transco Wharton meter. Deliveries to meters located east of the Checks (MLV 245 and MLV 321) originating at meters located upstream of the Checks are sealed through secondary services (Park Withdrawal/ Loan, IT-X, IT, AOT, PAT, Payback from Tennessee, EDS/ERS, Secondary). Primary increases only. Receipts from meters located on the Central Texas Gathering System, including the Transco Wharton meter (011929) are sealed through secondary services. Deliveries to meters downstream of Station 200 originating at meters located upstream of Station 200 are sealed through interruptible services. Primary and secondary increases only. Deliveries to meters located downstream of Station 87 originating at meters located upstream of Station 87 also are sealed through interruptible services. Transco Files To Phase In Momentum Project, Shave Capacity

Williams’ Transcontinental Gas Pipeline (Transco) filed to amend a previously granted FERC certificate for its $189 million Momentum expansion project. The pipeline wants to phase in and reduce the size of the expansion due to changes in the needs of two power generation customers in the Southeast.

CIG declared force majeure due to unscheduled maintenance at Muddy Gap Compressor Station and reduced available capacity on its Wind River Lateral in central Wyoming to 225 MMcf/d Thursday until further notice. The duration of the Muddy Gap work is unknown but is anticipated to continue through Jan. 3, CIG said.

Citing necessary maintenance on the #3 and #4 compressor units at the Custer OK Station, Reliant limited capacity on Line 2 Monday to 110,000 Dth/day. The work is expected to be completed by the start of Friday’s gas day.

Finances Derailing Power Plant Development in CA

The prospect for California fulfilling soon its goal of having 15-20% reserve margins in its electric generation capacity is clouded by the current financial uncertainty facing the energy industry, and may not be resolved until there is some further consolidation, according to representatives of merchant generators speaking at an industry conference in San Diego last week.

Transco Puts Sundance Expansion In Service

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line has placed its Sundance Expansion Project into service, increasing capacity by more than 236,000 Dth/d mainly for traditional markets and new power plants in Georgia and the Carolinas. The project includes four pipeline loops, totaling 38 miles, along the company’s existing mainline system and 41,225 hp of compression at two existing compressor stations in Georgia — Station 115 in Coweta County and Station 125 in Walton County.

Maritimes Files Phase IV Expansion at NEB

Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline L.P. (M&NP) filed an application with the National Energy Board (NEB) to expand the capacity of its natural gas pipeline system through its proposed Phase IV expansion. Once complete, the expansion will allow M&NP to transport 1 Bcf/d of natural gas from offshore Nova Scotia to markets in Eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. Project costs are expected to reach US$250 million.
