Cameron LNG LLC has applied at FERC to expand the export capability of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Hackberry, LA, by 9.97 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 24.92 mtpa through the addition of liquefaction trains four and five and a fifth LNG storage tank.

FERC on Thursday authorized Columbia Gulf Transmission LLC to construct a pair of pipeline segments totaling 34 miles and a new 12,260 hp compressor station in Jefferson Davis, Cameron, and Calcasieu parishes in Louisiana.

Sempra Energy officially broke ground on the company’s Cameron liquefied natural gas (LNG) project on Thursday, just weeks after receiving final authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) that cleared the way for it to export up to 1.7 Bcf/d of domestically produced LNG to non-free trade agreement (FTA) countries (see Daily GPI, Sept. 10).

FERC on Thursday gave its nod to Sempra Energy’s Cameron LNG export project in Louisiana. Cameron now joins Cheniere Energy Inc.’s Sabine Pass in the two-member club of projects to have received Commission and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) non-free trade agreement (FTA) export approvals; however, Cameron’s is conditional, for now.
