Dynegy to More Than Double Processing in Chico, TX

Dynegy Inc. reported on Tuesday that it is planning to more than double its natural gas processing capacity in the Chico, TX, region by building a 150 MMcf/d gas processing facility. The move was deemed necessary in response to increased drilling and production activity at the Barnett Shale formation in North Texas.

Hot Air Lifts Futures Near Recent Highs

Building on modest short-covering related advances achieved Friday, natural gas futures plowed higher yesterday as traders returned to the office to find that meteorologists had not backed away from their forecasts calling for hot temperatures across an extended area of the country over the next 10 days. With that, the September contract took over as the prompt month at Nymex with a neat, 15.9-cent gain to close at $3.353.

Questar Gets Go-Ahead on Utah Pipe Expansion

FERC last week issued a certificate to Questar Pipeline to begin building its 75-mile, 272,000 Dth/d pipeline loop running from northeastern Utah to the north central part of the state. The proposed facilities would transport to western markets the growing coal-seam natural gas production near Price, UT, and the volumes delivered to Questar from Colorado Interstate Gas’s (CIG) Uinta Basin Lateral at Natural Buttes.

Kinder Morgan, Williams Ink Major Tolling Deal

Kinder Morgan Inc. (KMI) and Williams signed one of the largesttolling agreements to date, a deal covering 3,300 MW of combinedcycle peaking capacity Kinder Morgan is building in theMidcontinent and the Southeast regions of the U.S. Williams willprovide the fuel to the six gas-fired plants and market the entirecapacity under a 16-year agreement. Financial terms of the tollingagreement were not disclosed.
