MMS Awards Fourth Helium Gas Contract to Cinergy

In the fourth sale of its kind, the Minerals Management Service (MMS) recently awarded a contract to Cinergy Marketing & Trade LP for delivery of 9,000 MMBtu/d, with the gas coming from the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Cliffside Helium Enrichment Unit near Amarillo, TX. The 12-month delivery began April 1.

FERC OKs Third LNG Terminal Involving Cheniere, Expanded Cameron Berthing Capacity

FERC last Wednesday awarded Cheniere Energy affiliates authorization to build a 2.6 Bcf/d liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal and associated pipeline facilities in Corpus Christi, TX. It also approved an amendment to Sempra’s Cameron LNG certificate to expand its berthing facilities in Louisiana to handle the next generation of larger LNG tankers.

FERC Approves Third Cheniere LNG Terminal; Sempra Cameron Site Draws Action

FERC on Wednesday awarded Cheniere Energy affiliates authorization to build a 2.6 Bcf/d liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal and associated pipeline facilities in Corpus Christi, TX. It also approved an amendment to Sempra’s Cameron LNG certificate to modify its berths to handle the next generation of larger LNG tankers [CP02-378]. Sempra’s terminal is being built in Cameron Parish, LA.

BP’s Tangguh LNG Project in Indonesia Picking Up Steam

A BP affiliate has awarded a $1.8 billion engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract for its Tangguh liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Indonesia to a group including KBR subsidiary PT Brown & Root Indonesia, JGC Corp. of Japan and PT Pertafenikki Engineering of Indonesia. The contract signing came a week after BP signed an agreement for the $5 billion project with the Indonesian government.

Responding swiftly, FERC last Tuesday awarded a certificate to Wyoming Interstate Company Ltd. (WIC) to build a lateral and compression expansion in southern Wyoming that would deliver increasing natural gas production from the Central Rocky Mountain region to existing markets.

Cheyenne Plains, TransColorado, Tractebel’s Calypso Pipeline Plans Get Green Light

In a busy regular meeting last Wednesday, FERC awarded certificates to two Rocky Mountain gas pipeline projects and a pipeline to a proposed LNG terminal in the Bahamas (see related story). The Commission also asserted “exclusive jurisdiction” over the “siting, construction and operation” of an LNG project that Sound Energy Solutions (SES), a U.S. subsidiary of Japan’s Mitsubishi Corp., is planning to build in the Port of Long Beach, CA (see related story).
