Sempra Awarded $172M Arbitration in Argentina Gas Dispute

San Diego, CA-based Sempra Energy was awarded approximately $172 million, including interest, to settle a 2002 dispute involving its 43% ownership of two Argentine natural gas holding companies, Sodigas Pampeana and Sodigas Sur, the company said Tuesday. The award comes from an autonomous third-party organization, the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.

Golden Pass LNG Awards $1B Engineering, Construction Contract

Golden Pass LNG LLC awarded a $1 billion lump-sum turnkey contract to Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. (CB&I) for construction of the 2 Bcf/d Golden Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) import facility near Sabine Pass, TX. The terminal, which will deliver regasified LNG to an ExxonMobil refinery and to the U.S. gas pipeline grid, is expected to be completed in 2009 when it will begin receiving LNG from Qatar.

Tidelands’ 1.2 Bcf/d Pipeline System Gets Green Light from Mexico’s CRE

Tidelands Oil & Gas Corp.’s Mexican pipeline subsidiary, Terranova Energia, was awarded a permit by the Comision Reguladora de Energia de Mexico (CRE) to build the 1.2 Bcf/d Terranova Occidente and Oriente pipeline portions of its Burgos Hub Export/Import Project in northeastern Mexico.

ANR’s Phase I Expansion Bids Surpass Target; Phase II Open Season Begins

ANR Pipeline Co. on Monday said bids for 17 Bcf of capacity have been awarded for Phase I of a storage enhancement project in Michigan, which surpassed its target of 13 Bcf. The El Paso Corp. subsidiary is expanding existing storage fields and developing new fields, all in Michigan, under a plan unveiled last November (see Daily GPI, Nov. 17, 2005).
