The U.S. Minerals Management Service announced Tuesday it had awarded ExxonMobil the SOAR award for excellence in offshore operational safety and environmental compliance; excellence in mineral revenues payment, reporting and compliance; and for superior partnership efforts with the federal government.

The last time ExxonMobil won the prestigious award was in 2002.

“ExxonMobil consistently sets and meets the highest standards, and for the second year in a row, they demonstrated outstanding performance across the board,” said MMS Director Johnnie Burton. “In 2003, ExxonMobil successfully merged huge and diverse accounting systems, and exceeded federal requirements for offshore worker safety.”

MMS has presented the SOAR award to the best in industry for the past five years.
