FERC Friday issued a favorable environmental assessment for Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America’s proposal to expand the working gas capacity at its existing Herscher-Galesville Gas Storage Field in Kankakee County, IL, by 10 Bcf. The project calls for the construction of 15 new water withdrawal wells; construction of 11 new water disposal wells; the addition of a new 8,180 hp gas-fired compressor unit within Compressor Station 201 at the storage field; and the replacement, looping or extension of pipe.

Dominion Transmission received a favorable environmental assessment last Monday for its Hub I project, a compressor addition in Pennsylvania and a pipeline connection with Texas Eastern Transmission (Tetco) designed to collect gas from the Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) delivered to Clarington, OH for transportation to major natural gas markets in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.

Oregon County Planners Weigh LNG Site Rejection

Warming up for a public hearing next Monday, the local county planning staff recirculated its negative assessment from earlier in the year recommending that local elected officials reject NorthernStar Natural Gas’s proposed Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal site along the Oregon side of the Columbia River, about 30 miles east of Astoria, OR. A spokesperson for the project downplayed the staff report as old news.

Citizen ‘Venting’ Begins on Another Aussie’s CA LNG Proposal

Federal and local government authorities responsible for making a joint environmental assessment held the first public comment session last Wednesday night on Australia-based Woodside Natural Gas’s proposed 1 Bcf liquefied natural gas (LNG) importation project off the Southern California coast near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). About 150 citizens and local government representatives attended at a hotel near LAX.
