Peachtree Still Not Out Of Georgia Woods

Although the sale of its customers to Shell Energy Services wasfinalized last week, Peachtree Natural Gas is not clear of problemsyet. The Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC) told NGI it isinvestigating slamming charges against the embattled marketer. GPSCCommissioner Bobby Baker said a slamming investigation is currentlyunder way and that anywhere from several hundred to severalthousand gas customers could be affected. There is no timeframe forthe conclusion of the investigation.

Transportation Notes

Northwest lifted Tuesday an entitlement for undertakes north ofKemmerer (WY) Station that had begun a week earlier (see Daily GPI, Nov. 10). Although linepack has returned toan acceptable level, the pipeline said, Jackson Prairie storage”remains virtually full with approximately 300,000 [dekatherms] ofavailable physical capacity.” Northwest is not authorizing anyimbalance paybacks until further notice.

October Prices Show Declines of About 30 Cents

Although indexes won’t be set until Friday, the bidweek numbersbeing reported to GPI suggest that October prices will reflectmonth-to-month declines of about 30 cents, give or take a fewpennies. A Southwest-oriented marketer said October looked a bitsofter on Wednesday, but a Calgary trader said intra-Alberta priceshad been rising into the low to mid C$3.20s since Monday.

AGL Earnings Hit By Customer Exodus

AGL Resources Inc. said it expects operating earnings for itsfourth quarter of fiscal 1999 to be lower than analysts’ estimates,although the company expects a modest profit from operations forthe quarter. Current estimates have the company earning $0.17/shareduring the quarter ending Sept. 30 compared to $0.12/share lastquarter.

Prices Continue to Slide but at a Slower Pace

Cash prices continued this week’s slide Wednesday, although thedescent wasn’t as steep as on the day before. Most of the newdeclines were around a dime or slightly more. The few pipes fallingless than a dime tended to be clustered in the Midcontinent.
