AltaGas Acquires Certain Canadian Midstream Gas Assets from EnCana

AltaGas Services Inc. said Thursday it has entered into agreements with subsidiaries of EnCana Corp. to acquire EnCana’s interests in two natural gas pipelines at Suffield, AB, and nine natural gas gathering and processing systems in northeastern Alberta (Wabasca System) for approximately C$115 million.

Tidelands Oil & Gas Acquires 225-Mile TX Gas Pipeline

Tidelands Oil & Gas Corp. has completed the acquisition of 225 miles of large diameter Texas natural gas pipeline from ZG Gathering Ltd. Terms of the transaction including acquisition price were not disclosed. The pipeline travels through the Dimmit, Frio, Uvalde and Zavala counties of Texas. Tidelands said it plans to interconnect this new system to its existing systems, which will deliver natural gas to Tidelands proposed international pipeline crossing at Piedras Negras, Mexico.

PPM Acquires Aquila’s Texas Storage Assets for $180 Million

Taking advantage of another opportunity to build its gas storage portfolio, PacifiCorp Power Marketing, Inc. (PPM), the competitive U.S. energy business of United Kingdom-based ScottishPower, said late last week that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Aquila Corp.’s Katy gas storage complex in Texas and four other gas storage development projects for $180 million.

Enterra Acquires 3.5 Bcf Gas Property in Southeast Alberta

Calgary-based Enterra Energy Corp. said last week that it has acquired a natural gas property in the Bindloss area of southeast Alberta. Based on a third party engineering evaluation completed Jan. 1, the property contains over 3.5 Bcf of proven reserves. Enterra said the acquisition will increase its proven gas reserves by 33%.

Shell Acquires Elba Island’s Expanded LNG Capacity; New Pipeline Planned

Shell Gas & Power said last week it has entered into a binding precedent agreement to acquire all of the new capacity offered by Southern LNG in its recently concluded open season to expand its Elba Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal near Savannah, GA. The deal connects the dots for Shell, providing a market for its overseas LNG export activities.

Regent Acquires Long-Pursued Louisiana Leases

Starting off the new year on an acquisition note, Houston-based Regent Energy Corp. said last Wednesday that it has closed the acquisition of leases in the Bayou Bouillon field from an undisclosed party. According to Ryder Scott, a Houston-based reservoir engineering firm, Bayou Bouillon is a gas field located in a South Louisiana salt dome containing 4.6 Bcfe of proven reserves.

Enbridge Acquires TX Gathering Assets for $50M

Alberta-based Enbridge Inc. reported on Thursday that it plans to buy the South Texas gas gathering, treating and transmission assets of the Williams Companies for $50 million. The deal includes 492 miles of Ferc-regulated gas transmission and 298 miles of non-FERC regulated gathering systems and pipeline laterals.
