Western Gulf Proposed Sale Details Released by MMS

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service (MMS) has released its Proposed Notice of Sale 187, the Western Gulf of Mexico (GOM) lease sale, which is scheduled for August 2003. MMS estimates the sale could result in the production of 136-to-262 million bbl of oil and 0.81-to-1.44 Tcf of natural gas.

Transportation Notes

El Paso began emergency maintenance Wednesday on Line 1201 downstream of Valve City Station, reducing San Juan Basin capacity by 100 MMcf/d through Friday. Capacity of the North Mainline will also be reduced by 60 MMcf/d during the same period. El Paso extended the duration for unscheduled repairs of Bondad Station’s 2A turbine, causing a Bondad capacity cut of 100 MMcf/d, through Aug. 8. The pipeline previously had expected to complete the work Aug. 2 (see Daily GPI, Aug. 1).

Transportation Notes

No injuries or fire resulted from a rupture Sunday evening onone of El Paso’s two 24-inch pipes (Line 1201) in the San JuanTriangle south of the pipeline’s San Juan River Mainline Station.The ruptured line was isolated and the other one remained inservice. Monday’s throughput impact was estimated at 50-75 MMcf/d(about 3% of Triangle capacity); no scheduling increases were beingallowed for Cycles 3 and 4 of the gas day. El Paso expected tocomplete repairs Monday night and that Triangle capacity would beback to normal today.
