QatarEnergy said this week it would consolidate all export product marketing, bringing the sale of LNG and helium assets managed by an affiliate into its fold to strengthen its global gas business and better compete with major portfolio players.

CEO Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi said the move is a “strategic decision” taken as part of a broader growth strategy. He added that it’s also “aimed at further strengthening the state of Qatar’s global liquefied natural gas offering to our customers and enables us to provide a unified customer and stakeholder interface with greater value.”

Up until now, QatarEnergy had managed the marketing and sale of most of the country’s export products, except for LNG and helium, which have been managed by Qatargas Operating Co. Ltd.
