Equitable Resources elected Vicky A. Bailey to its board of directors, increasing in the number of directors from 10 to 11. Bailey also will serve as a member of the company’s corporate governance committee. Bailey is a partner of the governmental relations firm of Johnston & Associates LLC and recently served as assistant secretary for the office of policy and international affairs at the Department of Energy. She is a previous commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and also previously served as a commissioner of the Indiana Public Utility Commission. Following her term at FERC, she assumed the position of president of PSI Energy Inc., Indiana’s largest electric supplier and a subsidiary of Cinergy Corp.

Canadian Superior Energy said it hired several senior El Paso Canada management personnel, including Harvey R. Klingensmith as COO, David Purcell as CFO, Mel Marshall as vice president of exploration, and Tony Sartorelli as senior geophysicist. Canadian Superior worked with the El Paso management team in western Canada and offshore Nova Scotia. Klingensmith also will be nominated to become a director of Canadian Superior at the company’s annual meeting. Klingensmith had been president of El Paso Oil and Gas Canada Inc. since 2002 and was instrumental in facilitating the Canadian Superior and El Paso Offshore Nova Scotia Joint Venture Project. He also was responsible for the recent successful sale of El Paso Oil and Gas Canada, Inc.’s western Canadian assets to British Gas, for US$345.6 million. Purcell is the former CFO of El Paso Oil and Gas Canada. Marshall is former manager of exploration and development at El Paso Oil and Gas Canada.
