Gasco Energy Inc. has appointed Michael Decker to the positions of COO and executive vice president. Decker has 24 years of oil and gas prospecting, mergers and acquisitions, development and operations experience. He is also chairman of the Potential Gas Committee, an independent group that provides estimates and reports on the nation’s long-range gas supply. Decker is the past vice president of exploitation with Prima Energy Corp., a Denver-based independent oil and gas company. Decker is also currently the owner and president of Black Diamond Energy, a geological engineering, operations, prospecting and merger and acquisition consulting firm. Gasco Energy is a Denver-based natural gas and oil exploration and development company that focuses in the Rocky Mountain area of the United States. The company currently holds interests in properties located in the Uinta Basin of northeastern Utah, which are being developed through an agreement with Phillips Petroleum.

WSR Energy Resources Inc. announced that it has retained E. Ray Broadbent II to oversee its acquisition of producing and developmental natural gas and oil properties, and companies. Broadbent is a recognized legal and acquisitions expert with more than 30 years domestic and international experience in all phases of the oil and gas industry. His domestic and international oil and gas experience includes participating in the evaluation of both producing and non-producing properties as well as all phases of the petroleum industry both upstream and downstream, WSRE said. Broadbent is a member of both the Texas and Louisiana Bar Associations. WSRE said Broadbent is expected to be appointed COO of the company later this year. In other matters, WSR Energy Resources Inc. also reported that effective July 2 it has been assigned the trading symbol WSRE. The Florida-based company acquires oil and gas producing and proven non-producing property assets. Earlier this year WSRE said it acquired a 409 acre oil and gas lease located in Pecos County, TX and has, according to a geologist report prepared by Nova Petroleum Resources Co., 24 Bcf of natural gas reserves.
