New Fortress Energy, CFE Eyeing Onshore LNG Export Capacity in Mexico as Offshore Unit Nears Completion

As New Fortress Energy Inc. targets deploying its first Fast LNG unit in the waters offshore Mexico’s eastern coast by June, it’s unveiled new plans to move the successive phases of Altamira LNG to land.

For the past several years, the liquefied natural gas vessel firm has been working to become a fuel supplier through its floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) business and its Fast LNG (FLNG) technology. Designed with modular units on a modified LNG vessel, NFE has touted its Fast LNG design as creating a quicker and cheaper option for exporting LNG without onshore construction.
