NEChoice LLC announced yesterday that it is seeking electricitysuppliers for its commercial, institutional and municipal customersthrough its National Energy Choice program. National Energy Choice,which currently represents one of the largest aggregated pools inthe Northeast, is seeking bids for 100 MW of electricity. Abidder’s conference will be held on Jan. 6 and responses are due onFriday, Jan. 14.

Suppliers that respond to this RFP will be responsible forproviding a minimum of 25 MW with a potential to serve over 100 MWdepending on the price of the commodity and the contract terms. Inaddition to power, this RFP also provides bidders with the optionof providing other services ranging from energy efficiency to greenpower.

“National Energy Choice is issuing an RFP for the supply ofeither firm, all-requirements load following retail service or awholesale block of power,” said Stephen J. Remen, managing directorof NEChoice.

Reman said the supply will feed markets in Connecticut,Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The company’s goal, according toReman, is to save its customers more than $17 million over the nexttwo years. He added that the total should increase going forwardbecause of deregulation in the Northeast.

During the past few months, several associations have joined theNational Energy Choice program. These include the ConnecticutConference of Municipalities, the Massachusetts Food Association,the Greater Boston Manufacturing Partnership and the MassachusettsLodging Association.
