A carbon capture project that would be sited offshore Louisiana’s industrial-heavy Cameron Parish is inching forward after Carbonvert Inc. and Castex Energy Inc. clinched an operating agreement with state officials.

Houston-based Carbonvert, a carbon capture and storage (CCS) expert, is teaming with Castex subsidiary Castex Carbon Solutions LLC to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at the Cameron Parish CO2 Hub.

The hub would service existing industrial emitters and anticipated greenfield projects. 

“We firmly believe our Cameron Parish offshore project will help shape Louisiana’s low carbon future,” Carbonvert CEO Alex Tiller said. “Our CCS project will strengthen the local economy,” enabled through state and federal funds.
