Tuscarora Gas Transmission has filed an application with FERC to add a new 8,000 hp compressor station on its mainline near milepost 81.6 in Modoc County, CA, and a 3,600 hp booster compressor at its existing Wadsworth station in Washoe County, NV. The new compression will cost $16.5 million and will boost its firm transportation capacity by 51,753 Dth/d. Tuscarora requested Commission approval by Nov. 18 so that the facilities can be put into service before the 2005-2006 heating season. Reno-based Tuscarora operates a pipeline system extending in a southeasterly direction from a point of interconnection with the facilities of Gas Transmission Northwest Corp. near Malin, OR, to a terminus near Wadsworth, NV, where Tuscarora interconnects with Paiute Pipeline Co.

Duvernay Oil Corp. said it discovered about 250 Bcfe of potential gas reserves in northeastern British Columbia in the company’s core Sunset-Groundbirch-Saturn area. During the past 18 months, it has drilled 20 gas wells delineating the Triassic Doig trend, establishing first production in early 2003. The trend is estimated to be 50 miles long and two miles wide and contains a “tight” gas sand requiring fracture stimulation to achieve commercial production rates. The play thus far consists of the initial Groundbirch discovery delineated by 13 gas wells. Duvernay controls an estimated 115 additional potential drilling locations along the trend. Current production from the discovery is 10 MMcf/d, and through continued successful development activity is anticipated to increase to 30 MMcf/d by the second half of 2005. With further development drilling success in 2005-2006, additional production and reserve upside is possible. The Sunset-Groundbirch-Saturn area is one of Duvernay’s four main operated complexes.
