Atlas Pipeline Partners LP (APL) has signed agreements with DCP NGL Services LLC (DCP), a subsidiary of DCP Midstream LLC, to sell its natural gas liquids (NGL) production from each of APL’s processing facilities in Oklahoma and Texas. The agreements are based on Mont Belvieu NGL pricing and each has a term of 15 years, which will become effective at various times upon expiration of APL’s existing NGL sales agreements, the company said. The agreements provide long-term support for APL’s previously announced expansions at its WestTX, WestOK and Velma systems (see Daily GPI, May 16). The arrangements also allow for the sale of additional NGLs from the West Texas plants on an interim basis.

Bellevue, WA-based Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has mailed to its 1.5 million customers scratch-and-sniff pamphlets that give off the rotten eggs odor used to identify gas leaks. The combination utility said it distributed the customer information pamphlet so that gas users and the general public are better able to recognize potential leaks and report them quickly to the utility. The pamphlet’s scratch portion releases the same odor — mercaptan — that gas distributors regularly put in their supplies. In addition to smell, PSE encourages its customers to be aware that “hissing sounds, blowing dirt or bubbles in a puddle” also can be indicators of possible gas leaks. As part of the mailing, the utility offers customers a quiz to test their “natural gas IQ.”
