Colorado Interstate Gas received a FERC certificate Wednesday toexpand its Raton Basin facilities to keep pace with expandingcoal-bed methane production. CIG will construct two new compressorstations, add to a third, and build a total of 69 miles of pipe todeliver 85 MMcf/d into major interstate lines.

CIG said it signed contracts with Primero Gas Marketing Co. andEl Paso Energy Raton for firm transportation from receipt points onits Picketwire Lateral to interconnects to the east and south ofCIG’s Campo Junction in Baca County, CO. The expansion will allowshippers to make deliveries into Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line, ANRPipeline, Williams Natural Gas, El Paso Natural Gas, NorthernNatural Gas, Transwestern Pipeline, and Natural Gas PipelineCompany of America.

CIG will construct a new Trinidad Compressor Station with a4,700 hp engine-driven compressor, a new Kim Compressor Stationwith two engines rated at 4,450 hp each, install an additional4,450 hp engine-driven compressor at its existing Keyes CompressorStation and build a 48-mile, 20-inch loop of its existing CampoJunction-Mocane Line from Morton County, KS to Texas County, OK. Anadditional 21 miles of 8-inch pipeline will be added to the systemto facilitate the blending of high Btu and low Btu gas.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission agreed with a CIGpetition that it defer a decision on future rate treatment for theexpansion until considering its new rate case, filed this month.
