Dynegyconnect LP, a new e-business subsidiary of Houston-basedDynegy Inc., has launched an Internet service that allows serviceproviders to expand their networks or add access to theirportfolios. The service is designed to assist Dynegy’s current andfuture customers to be more competitive in the workplace throughthe Internet.

Dynegyconnect Internet service provides access services at DS3,OC3 and above, and gives the user options to form multiple peeringand transit relationships. It also allows users to select and payonly for the bandwidth it needs with flat-rate, tiered or burstablebilling options.

The Denver-based company, which is a joint venture of Dynegy andTelstra Corp. Ltd., is now developing a nationwide opticallyswitched data network that will have nearly 16,000 route miles andmore than 40 points of presence by the fourth quarter of this year.

Dynegyconnect selected Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., asubsidiary of Fujitsu Ltd., as its equipment and services provider.Fujitsu will be the primary supplier of division multiplexingequipment and services, and will increase the network capacity bysimultaneously transmitting up to 176 channels, each capable ofcarrying 10 gigabits per second of traffic through a single fiber.

Dynegy launched Dynegydirect last October as a B2B trading site(see Daily GPI, Oct. 17, 2000). In sixweeks, it had exceeded $1.5 billion in trades.
