Dominion and FPL Group Inc. said Tuesday that Dominion Energy Clearinghouse has been named the sole fuel manager and fuel supplier for FPL Energy’s Doswell electricity generation facilities in Hanover County, VA.

Under a four-year contract that began Jan. 1, Dominion is providing natural gas and fuel oil to the Doswell facilities, including management of 9 Bcf of natural gas storage, 11 million gallons of fuel oil storage and 125,000 Dth/d of firm natural gas transportation on Dominion Transmission Inc. and Virginia Natural Gas lines. FPL Energy’s Doswell facilities include a 665 MW combined cycle unit and a recently completed 171 MW simple cycle peaking unit.

“The fuel supply and management agreement creates economies of both scale and scope in optimizing assets,” said Ron Green, president of FPL Energy. “These economies lead to value creation that is shared by the parties.”

Richmond, VA-based Dominion Energy Clearinghouse buys and sells electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, coal and emission allowances, and provides a full range of asset management services. The company also provides customer service support, transportation, capacity, storage and balancing service along interstate pipelines.

“[Our] extensive portfolio of natural gas storage, pipeline capacity and supply gives us the flexibility to provide fuel both reliably and cost effectively to Doswell,” said Kevin T. Howell, president of Dominion Energy Clearinghouse.
