The increased demand and value of U.S. LNG has inspired Cove Point LNG to pursue a new project that could help it export as much natural gas overseas as possible, management disclosed in a letter to FERC.

Cove Point LNG LP has filed a preliminary request to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a small unit that could add 20 MMcf/d of capacity. These additional volumes would be captured and liquified from boil-off gas the company detailed was currently being evaporated during normal operations.

Representatives with Cove Point wrote the company was “pursuing supplemental liquefaction service to satisfy the increased LNG customer market demand.”
