Comstock Resources Inc. has forged a midstream partnership to boost outflow from its western Haynesville Shale assets as it looks past the current slump of natural gas prices into a future of surging Gulf Coast LNG demand.

The Frisco, TX-based independent disclosed it is contributing its Pinnacle gathering system and 145-mile associated pipeline, as well as its Bethel natural gas system, to create a midstream subsidiary with Quantum Capital Solutions (QCS).

In exchange, QCS has committed around $300 million to “increase the capacity four-fold” over the next five years, creating around 2 Bcf/d of additional output from the western Haynesville in East Texas, CEO Jay Allison said during the third quarter earnings call.
