Cheniere Energy Inc. loaded fewer LNG cargoes in the second quarter amid a heavy stretch of maintenance and slightly weaker international demand.

The company loaded 149 cargoes, or 536 TBtu, of the super-chilled fuel during the quarter, down from 156 cargoes, or 563 TBtu, in the year-ago period. 

While international demand for liquefied natural gas has remained strong this year, buying has dropped compared with 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine and upended energy flows. Cheniere also completed a major maintenance overhaul during the second quarter at the Sabine Pass export terminal in Louisiana for the first time since it entered service in 2016.
