The floating LNG (FLNG) unit at the heart of the BP plc-operated Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) natural gas project has arrived offshore of Senegal and Mauritania as the production partners prepare for start-up in the coming months.

Golar LNG Ltd.’s 2.3 million metric ton/year (MMty) FLNG Gimi has been anchored at the GTA hub in preparation for a connection to the subsea feed gas pipeline, where it is expected to produce liquefied natural gas for the next 20 years. The floating production storage and offloading unit departed for the GTA site early last year.

“This is a major step forward for overall delivery of the” first phase of GTA LNG, BP’s Rahman Rahmanov, vice president of projects for Mauritania and Senegal said.
