BKV Corp. has added to its power generation holdings by purchasing the 758 MW Temple II natural gas combined cycle power plant in Bell County, TX, for an undisclosed amount in partnership with Banpu U.S. Power Corp. (BPPUS).

Denver-based BKV is the 10th largest privately held producer of natural gas and oil in the Lower 48, according to a list recently compiled by Enverus. BKV and BPPUS both are subsidiaries of Bangkok, Thailand-based Banpu Public Co. Ltd.

Through their joint venture – BKV-BPP Power LLC – BKV and BPPUS also acquired a 50% stake in the Temple I power plant in 2021 for $430 million. Located at the same site as Temple II, Temple I boasts a capacity of 755 MW. BKV supplies gas from its Barnett Shale acreage to the Temple site.
