Stout storage levels at the start of the weak spring demand season kept baseload natural gas prices for April under pressure in bidweek trading Tuesday, according to NGI’s Bidweek Alert (BWA).

Overall trade slowed from Monday on the third and last day of bidweek trading for April baseload flows, with the Midwest and Appalachia leading on volumes.

Notably, West Texas fixed prices stayed negative Tuesday, echoing bidweek trade levels on Friday and Monday, as a supply glut was not expected to let up in April. Record associated gas production, interruptions to Permian Basin takeaway capacity and further outages at the Freeport LNG terminal have combined with weak weather demand to drown the region in gas supply.
