Altra E-Business Solutions, a subsidiary of Altra Energy Technologies, Inc., and Epicentric have designed and launched a new energy portal for ONEOK, Inc. The ‘My OEMT’ (for ONEOK Energy Marketing and Trading) portal will act as an e-business network, simultaneously delivering customized commerce services, business applications and targeted content to different user groups within the energy industry.

“Altra’s E-Business Solutions provided us with an extremely powerful and flexible way to unify all of our intranet, extranet and Internet initiatives and deliver the precise combination of resources that each of our business communities desire,” said Charles Moore, vice president of information technology at ONEOK.

Energy traders, energy buyers and natural gas pipeline schedulers will all be able to create personalized browser views of essential energy-focused resources including NYMEX prices, energy charts, nationwide weather conditions and forecasts, energy news, industry analysis and commentary.

By combining the open, Java-based integration and delivery framework of Epicentric with the industry’s leading energy trading and transaction management technology of Altra, energy companies like ONEOK can offer their business communities a one-stop Internet resource that has been tailored to meet their needs, Altra said. In addition, the ability to privately brand the portal and easily integrate it with the Altra Market Place for online commodity trading offers an end-to-end solution for the energy industry, Altra added.

“The My OEMT energy portal demonstrates just how effective a dedicated, enterprise-wide e-business platform for the energy industry can be,” said Ahmad Atwan, vice president of Altra E-Business Solutions. “By providing companies such as ONEOK with the power to centrally deploy an energy-focused portal to internal users, customers, and suppliers, energy companies can leverage our leading e-business infrastructure platform to reduce IT and data subscription costs and empower key business users.”

It’s expected that up to 5,000 users will eventually be connected to the My OEMT energy portal. In addition to the energy-specific applications, content and services, the portal also offers its users personal resources including e-mail, general news, human resource information and a content management suite for publishing and collaborative access to documents and reports.
