  • Petronas on Wednesday reported a fire on its Sabah-Sarawak natural gas pipeline in Malaysia. The system feeds the 30 million metric tons/year Bintulu LNG export terminal.
  • The company blamed the “fire incident” on a third-party contractor performing work near the pipeline’s right-of-way that was unrelated to the system. It did not say how LNG or upstream operations would be impacted.
  • The company declared force majeure on supplies from the terminal in October due to a leak on the Sabah-Sarawak pipeline, which analysts said at the time could cut up to three cargoes monthly from global supplies.
