An electric vehicle (EV) fitted with fuel cells drove for more than 1,277 miles, the longest distance covered without refueling for a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) and without recharging, according to Advent Technologies Holdings Inc.

A modified Renault Zoé EV fitted with a methanol-based hydrogen fuel cell unit broke the previous world record for an FCEV, driving at about 31 miles/hour for 40 hours.

“This new world record represents a great example of how fuel cells can produce clean and uninterrupted power while replacing the need for conventional fuels,” said Chief Technology Officer Emory De Castro.
