Two of Anadarko Petroleum Corp.’s operations executives have left the company to join their former Anadarko colleague, Doug Lawler, who took over in June as CEO of Chesapeake Energy Corp.

M. Chris Doyle, who had been Anadarko’s point man in the Marcellus Shale, was named senior vice president of Chesapeake’s northern division operations, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Doyle succeeded Lawler as chief of Anadarko’s southern and Appalachian business units and previously was chief of corporate planning, including strategic planning, capital allocation, reserves estimation and financial forecasting efforts. In his 18 years with Anadarko, Doyle held various positions, including international assignments in Algeria and London.

Mikell J. “Jason” Pigott was tapped as senior vice president of the southern division operations, which includes Texas and Louisiana businesses. Pigott previously had managed Anadarko’s East Texas and North Louisiana team from October 2010 until June. He also had once been planning manager for Anadarko’s southern and Appalachia region and had “held a wide variety of positions focused on all aspects of developing unconventional resources,” according to Chesapeake.

The new executives fill some of the roles that had been held by Chesapeake COO Steve Dixon, who was fired in mid-August along with operations executives Jeff Fisher and Steve Miller, as well as human resources chief Martha Burger (see Daily GPI, Aug. 14) as part of the changing of the guard. A source told NGI on Friday that Doyle and Pigott arrived two days after the fired executives were gone.

Lawler, who had been in charge of Anadarko’s international and deepwater businesses, joined Chesapeake in June following co-founder Aubrey McClendon’s retirement (see Daily GPI, May 21). He previously was in charge of Anadarko’s southern and Appalachian businesses and had served as vice president of corporate planning.
