CMS Energy Corp. changed the name of its oil and gas explorationand production business to CMS Oil and Gas Co. “Last year we movedto our headquarters in Houston, TX, and the original focus of ourbusiness has broadened from its origins in northern Michigan toinclude exploration and production projects around the world,” saidBradley W. Fischer, CEO of CMS Oil and Gas Co., formerly known asCMS NOMECO Oil & Gas Co.

Originally formed in Michigan in 1967 as Northern MichiganExploration Co., Houston-based CMS Oil and Gas Co. has grown intoone of America’s 30 largest independent oil and gas companies inproduction and reserves. It is engaged in exploration and/orproduction in 12 states and internationally in eight countries. In1997, operating revenues were a record $168.2 million and pre-taxincome was $26.2 million. At year-end 1997, proven reserves were152 million net equivalent barrels. Production for 1997 totaled11.4 million net equivalent barrels.
