Despite multiple bearish indicators heading into winter, it doesn’t take much these days for U.S. natural gas prices to swing sharply upward, experts said Monday.

Rising domestic production and expected milder than average temperatures across much of the Lower 48 should help keep prices in check over the coming months, even with storage levels currently sitting below the five-year average, panelists said at LDC Forums’ Midcontinent Forum in Chicago.

East Daley Capital’s Rob Wilson, vice president of analytics, said over the short-term, the firm is “bullish supply, bearish price” with respect to natural gas.
