The owners of the Whistler Pipeline system and the developers of the planned Rio Bravo Pipeline project are joining forces to connect Permian Basin natural gas supply with Gulf Coast LNG export markets.

WhiteWater Midstream, I Squared Capital, MPLX LP and Enbridge Inc. have agreed to combine Whistler and Rio Bravo in a new joint venture (JV), the firms announced Tuesday.

Under the deal, expected to close during the second quarter of 2024, Enbridge would contribute its wholly owned Rio Bravo project and cash in exchange for an ownership stake in the new JV. Ownership of the new venture would comprise WhiteWater/I Squared (50.6%), MPLX (30.4%) and Enbridge (19.0%).
