WGL Holdings, Inc. said Tuesday it has delayed releasing its company’s earnings due to a notice of hearing issued by the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia. The hearing will look into the basic rates, charges and terms and conditions of service of its subsidiary, Washington Gas Light Co.

The commission scheduled the last-minute hearing for Tuesday (Oct. 29).

The Washington, DC-based energy company said it and its independent auditor want to “review and evaluate” the commission’s order before it releases fiscal year 2002 results or offers guidance for fiscal year 2003. As a result, WGL Holdings said fiscal year 2002 results, originally scheduled for release after the market closes Wednesday, and the associated conference call, originally scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, will be rescheduled.

WGL said advance public notice will be given regarding the rescheduled release of year-end financial results and the associated conference call. The company added that it expects to receive the full text of the order within the next week and will reschedule these events shortly thereafter.

Washington Gas serves more than 930,000 natural gas customers throughout metropolitan Washington, DC, and the surrounding region.
