After inconclusive territory negotiations and an unsuccessful protest lawsuit, native opponents have revived blockades against construction of TC Energy Corp.’s Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline across northern British Columbia (BC).

BC Solicitor General Mike Farnworth called the resistance a hazard that violates a court order against interference with the project. He urged all concerned to end confrontation and turn to peaceful means to settle the dispute.

“Obstructions on the roads have effectively cut off safe access, support and security for more than 500 workers,” said Farnworth.
