Natural gas and LNG operators have been asked by the Biden administration for information about how the technologies they are using – or plan to deploy – will reduce carbon emissions from production, transportation and liquefaction.

In a request for information (RFI) issued on Tuesday, the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) said it would take public comments over the next two months from operators regarding the potential for technology to reduce natural gas emissions (No. DE-FOA-0003052).

“As the top global natural gas producer and exporter, America’s exports of LNG play a vital role in supporting global energy security,” the Department of Energy (DOE) officials said. The FECM is within the DOE.
