Two employees of offshore oilfield services provider Cotemar died and one was still missing Monday following a fire early Friday (July 7) at the Nohoch-A offshore natural gas processing facility operated by Mexico’s state oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

The infrastructure serves the Cantarell field in shallow waters of Campeche Bay off southeastern Mexico.

Pemex CEO Octavio Romero Oropeza said Saturday about 700,000 b/d of oil production had been shut in following the disaster “as we closed practically all of the wells in the zone.” Roughly 600,000 b/d of output had been restored as of Saturday, he said.
