Six people were injured and seven remained unaccounted for after an explosion early Friday at an offshore natural gas processing facility operated by Mexican national oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

The state-owned firm said 321 of the 328 workers present at the Nohoch-A gas processing center had been evacuated after a fire broke out at 5:25 a.m. local time. Pemex did not specify the status of the other seven workers.

The infrastructure serves the Cantarell shallow water field, which produced 860.4 MMcf/d of natural gas and 158,300 b/d of oil in 2022, according to Pemex’s annual 20-F report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
