Algonquin said colder than expected weather and high demand in its service territory had significantly degraded linepack, and it asked Tuesday that “all point operators voluntarily use means at their disposal to reduce takes to the greatest extent possible.” These restrictions were in effect Tuesday: no forward-haul AO/IT nominations accepted; no due-shipper gas available anywhere on the system; and a Critical Notice posted Feb. 10 requiring all customers to stay within a daily 2% due-pipeline imbalance still stood. However, that afternoon Algonquin cited improving weather and operating conditions in saying it would lift the Critical Notice Wednesday.

Texas Eastern reported restoring the Armagh and Wheelersburg compressor stations to full operation Tuesday following outages of a compressor (Armagh) and electrical service (Wheelersburg). These events, plus the beginning of a moderation in the weather and demand, were allowing the pipe to begin to restore linepack in its market area. Texas Eastern anticipated a return to normal operating conditions sometime during Wednesday’s gas day, but asked that during the recovery period all point operators and shippers continue to maintain a balance between scheduled and actual deliveries.

Northern Natural Gas said Monday it had restored service to all affected customers in the Two Harbors and Silver Bay area of Minnesota. A force majeure situation in the area was announced Feb. 11.

Nominated northbound volumes through the Kemmerer (WY) Station bottleneck continue to be high at above 550,000 Dth/d, Northwest said Tuesday. It asked that in order to continue avoiding OFOs, customers limit Kemmerer volumes to its 474,000 Dth/d of physical capacity. In addition, Pacific Northwest temperatures were in a cooling trend with rain and Northwest’s Jackson Prairie storage volumes are still declining, the pipeline said. “For these reasons, it is imperative that there is no drafting of the system.”
